Secondary Teachers
Subject Teacher for math and/or science: Position entails individual and small group instruction, supervising, role-modeling and relationship development in a Christian boarding school. Three to four subject classes are assigned per teacher with approximately 8-12 students per subject. Would be responsible to teach a wide range of math and/or science subjects.
Homeroom Teacher: A homeroom teacher records, monitors, and encourages student academic progress. He/she will participate in case conferences for all students in their homeroom. A homeroom teacher works as an active team member with house staff and house counselor. They will teach classes in a group setting and tutor students. This staff person will motivate and encourage underachieving students to perform to their academic potential, grow spiritually and develop positive life skills. He/she serves as a resource for all student questions within the classroom, providing answers or directing them to someone who can provide them with an answer. Other duties include supervising students when they are not attending a subject class; working with all students in an authoritative manner; managing their classroom; and monitoring behavior and evaluating students each period, using the point system. The homeroom teacher communicates daily with house parents of students in the homeroom concerning overall behavior, attitude and academic achievement.
Bachelor's degree required, for a qualified candidate to teach a subject class. Certification with ACSI or a willingness to become certified. We assist with the ACSI process. We ask staff members for an initial commitment of two years. A passport is required.
