Providing students with quality care from a well trained staff is a priority at NHYM. The following is an overview of the training that staff members who work directly with students receive:

• Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
  • Level I (all staff)
  • Level II (senior staff)
• CPR/FA training (all staff)
  • Weekly, 30 minute, staff training sessions (all staff)
  • Weekly, 60 minutes of time with supervisor as individual areas (all teachers, housemothers, all housefathers)
• Time is used to go over the week's activity, plan appropriate responses, talk about problems, talk about ways to improve.
• When staff member first starts, there is two weeks of observing others followed by two weeks of doing their job with supervision.
• One-on-one supervision with supervisor is provided to staff as needed.
