Paybacks are Good
Dear Phil and Tim,
We would love to give our kudos to New Horizons and we know Mom and Dad Johnson are looking down from heaven saying the same thing. We had the same heavy hearts that the parents do who are looking at NHM or have children in the program. Today our daughter LLindsey is an ER nurse with a BSN, starting on her Masters part time and all the crazy stuff of ADD has become a real asset when she is working hard to save someone’s life and she does save lives. Her reviews are fabulous and comments that she can “bounce 20 things in the air” and not get rattled are true. This is her passion and she can think on her feet and react without panic. She completed her degree, with Mom and Dad’s help, at age 28 but she did it. Rough along the way - you bet! Sometimes all you can do is pray, walk away and let them stumble. Oh, there are some paybacks going on with 9 yr. old daughter Aliyah! Deb says “Paybacks are good!”
Phil you said to us under that thatched roof that she would bring us pain before she finally grew up and you were so right and she still doesn’t make good choices in some area- still is impulsive but she can support herself and her daughter. New Horizons saved her life, she certainly didn’t like it and doesn’t like it today but she would not be where she is today without it - it broke the awful downward cycle and kept her safe while working on issues. Phil you said a lot of what she was learning there would mean more to her later and you were right.
Tim you must be retiring! And Phil you are taking over the reins I imagine. We just got back from a week in the DR, Punta Cana to be exact and just love the country and owe so many people there so much.
We have read the comments by the kids on the other website. No program is perfect of course. Judy Brown, Lisa Brown’s Mom and I have kept track of each other all this time(10 years) and still talk every couple of months. We have only seen each other 3 times in 10 years but there is a bond there, we both agree. She is finishing chemo for breast cancer but I think is doing well. I have been able to keep track of Lisa through her.
